Klein Tools MM2000 Review

The first impression after you unpack the meter is that it looks and feels very good: good build, solid case, made of good quality material, proper length tilt-stand, rubber boot, large and hard rotary switch. The display is large and easy to read, with gray background, blue backlight and fast response bar-graph.
One of the two remarks that I have for this multimeter is the diode test voltage. If you plan to use this meter for electronics, keep in mind that the diode test voltage is not higher than 1.80-1.85V (measured on open circuit), so the LEDs with higher forward voltage drops cannot be tested. The scale of the bar-graph (4V) and the bar-graph indication on open circuit (shows value above 4V) while the multimeter is in this mode are misleading because do not correspond with the maximum possible reading in this case.
Another remark that I have is that when measuring capacitance the reading for large value capacitors (x1000uF) may take up to 60 seconds.
Pros:
* Good build, solid case, made of good quality material;
* Large display and digits;
* Large rotary switch; it sits firmly on all positions;
* True RMS;
* Fast auto-ranging speed;
* Fast bar-graph;
* Accurate as specified;
Cons:
* No data logging / No PC interface;
* Low diode test voltage. Some LEDs cannot be tested.
* The capacitance measurement takes very long time for large value capacitors;
* Relative Reading Mode locks the selected range;
* The accuracy for temperature measurements is not very impressive ±(3%+3°C).
For all who need True RMS, and auto/manual ranging features, I consider this multimeter as one of the best candidates for buying for this price.

Great quality and great price!

This meter works great. I especially like the ability to manually select a range, or let the meter auto range. It is like having the best of both worlds. The backlight works great. Easy to read, no noticeable delay on reading voltages. The housing feels solid and rugged enough to survive in a tool bag as well. This is a good solid meter. The reasonable price is a bonus.

the one crutch for me not awarding it 5 stars is that the thermocoupler is not that accurate, which, in the HVAC business, means trouble. Get yourself a Fluke 87V or 179 instead.
Otherwise, good display, good back lighting, a little bulky but not awkward to hold. Leads and clips are what one would expect in this price range.
