Works perfectly, but you MUST use it properly!

I bought this tool because I have two full panels of breakers that are either poorly or not at all labeled. I have since tried this on a whole lot of panels of all brands and can tell you that it works brilliantly.
plug the included test plug into the outlet on the circuit you want to trace (or plug it into a light socket adapter for lighting circuits), then go to your panel, click on the tester, hold it so the green light up arrow is perpundicular to the breakers and the black face of the unit is facing the center of the breaker panel. once it has been alligned correctly, run the tester slowly down your entire panel face, it may beep once or more durring this process, that is the tester learning your circuits.
once you have run it over all of your circuits, make a second pass carefully touching the tip of the unit squarely on each breaker until it chimes. once it chimes on the second run, you have found your active circuit, you can then label it, shut it down and work safely on whatever project you have planned.
to the one-star reviewers, please read the instructions before reviewing. it is not a straight forward tool to learn, but once figured out, it works brilliantly.

Works as Advertised

I just purchased the Klein ET300 this evening locally. I also purchased the optional circuit breaker kit that has 1)a screw-in bulb socket to two-prong outlet converter (Leviton) and 2)a pair of alligator clips wired to an outlet that you can connect the ET300's transmitter to for tracing from bare wires.
The device functioned as advertised. I plugged the transmitter into an outlet in the main bathroom on the second floor, then walked a few feet away to the upstairs laundry closet where the circuit breaker panel is. Scanned the panel slowly the first time, ignoring the beeps. Scanned the panel a second time, and it nailed the breaker right on.
This device is essentially identical to the Reliance Controls THP110. The only difference is that the THP110 does not have the protective rubber case that the Klein version of the tool has.
Cons: It's far too easy to turn the tool on because of the type and position of the power button. A sliding on/off switch on the tool face would have been a much better idea. In my opinion, the tool should come, or have an option to purchase, a case that would store the tool and the option kit, and also prevent the tool from being accidentally powered on. I'll either have to figure a way to protect the switch, or just remove the batteries when I am done using it, although that is a pain; you have to take off the rubber case and unscrew the battery compartment.

I have been doing electrical work over 18 years and have used another far more expensive product. I needed a basic, quality tracing tool for personal use and found that Klein came through again. This tool does exactly what it says, nothing more (for those who try to make something be a doitall tool). I do strongly recommend a double sweep after first identifying the circuit. It has been 100% accurate, even on multiconductor cables with a common neutral.
