No technical support, no support for 64-bit Windows 7

After we purchased this, we discovered that the drivers provided by Fluke do not work in Windows 7 64-bit. They don't even work in the Windows XP Mode (virtualization of WinXP). On contacting tech support, they have acknowledged that this device is not supported, and do not plan on supporting this device, even though they are still selling it. I would strongly recommend you look elsewhere, as Fluke is not interested in selling their products.

Critical Flaw! - Doesn't work with 64-bit PCs

I just purchased and received the Fluke VR1710 based on Fluke's reputation for building quality test and measurement products. I own over half a dozen Fluke products and have generally been very satisfied, which is why I frequently return to purchase more Fluke products. However, the VR1710 scores poorly, due to the incompatibility of the accompanying PowerLog software with modern 64-bit PCs running Vista or Windows 7. Although the data sheet doesn't give , the Fluke manual specifically states that the VR1710 has been verified to run on Windows Vista (which is what I'm using) -- however, as of the time of writing, no where does it document that it is not compatible with 64-bit operating systems. Since the PowerLog software is required to run, program, configure, and download data from the device, the VR1710 is completely unusable without the the PowerLog software functioning. After struggling for a few hours to make the software work, I concluded that the driver itself was the culprit and ultimately called Fluke support for suggestions. After holding for an extended period, I finally reached a customer service engineer in the power quality group. He confirmed that the VR1710 USB driver will not run on a 64-bit OS and was unable to provide any guidance on when Fluke would release a 64-bit driver for Vista or Windows 7. As a result, I am unable to use this product unless I purchase a different PC. And even then, all new PCs come with Windows 7 -- and this is not yet certified either, even for the 32-bit OS. I'm sure that the VR1710 unit itself works fine -- and does what the data sheet states. However, without the ability to run the PowerLog software to control the device, this is an $800 mistake. In an age where PC operating systems are moving quickly to 64-bit (even in laptops), it is inexcusable that this product does not operate with a modern PC or operating system. At the very least, Fluke should make it clear on the sales brochure, as well as the manual, that 64-bit operating systems are not yet supported. I was further frustrated that Fluke support could not give me any guidance as to when such support would become available. Rather, I was advised to return the product to the distributor for a refund -- which leaves me with no solution. Fluke needs to fix this quickly, including updating the documentation, or risk alienating loyal customers who have relied on Fluke products for their livelihoods. If and when Fluke updates their driver and I am able to confirm its reliability on a 64-bit OS, I will gladly revise my ranking. Until then, I can't use the product.
